Southwest Arizona’s leader in women’s care for more than 20 years, the WHS team is comprised of more than a dozen highly-trained medical providers, including obstetricians, gynecologists and perinatology specialists, certified nurse-midwives (CNMs) and nurse practitioners.
“YRMC and WHS have a strong track record of working together to advance women’s healthcare in our region, and we’re thrilled to be taking this natural next step,” said Robert Trenschel, D.O., President and CEO of YRMC. “As YRMC continues its important journey to evolve into the health system of tomorrow, we are always looking for additional ways to integrate care and ensure our patients have superior access to high-quality services here in Yuma. Officially bringing the experts from WHS into our family means that patients will receive better coordinated care from specialists who have a holistic view of their unique history and needs.”
WHS has had a significant presence within YRMC for decades. From its current locations and with the same team, WHS will be dedicated to providing world-class care for women of all ages as part of the YRMC system. YRMC has gained national recognition over the years for the quality of its women’s care, particularly involving maternity services and care minimally invasive surgery for women.
“By joining YRMC, our providers will be able to offer an even higher-level of care for patients by increasing quality and improving patient safety, both within the hospital and in care settings beyond the hospital walls,” said James E. Vining II, M.D., with WHS. “This integration will allow more women to get the care they need close to home, right here in Yuma. Together we will be able to grow the size and scope of women’s health services in our community and expand access throughout the region.”
One goal of this partnership is to expand access to vital programs related to breast cancer prevention, diagnostics and treatment, genetic cancer screening programs, perinatal services, subspecialized care, community outreach and much more.
Importantly, patients can continue to access a women’s health specialist at YRMC 24/7. For years, a WHS physician has stayed on-call for expecting mothers or gynecology patients needing consultation or a procedure.
